Review of Served Like a Girl (2017) by Jan S — 31 Aug 2017
Did you know there is a Ms. Veteran America pageant? I didn't. This movie sheds a light on one of the least-known side effects of serving in the US military... homeless women vets. There are 55,000 and the number is growing. Virtually every ad I see for veterans' services and charities focuses on men...I don't even remember seeing women portrayed.
I had also not heard the term MST (military sexual trauma). PTSD is well-known, but this not so much.
It's not a great film, but a worthy one. I did care about the women they followed and wanted to know what happened to them. It's too bad there were only four people in the theater.
