Review of Serpico (1973) by Gavin M — 27 Feb 2011
I found this movie a little disappointing for some reason. Al Pacino is very good as Frank Serpico. In spite of this, I found it difficult to take to the character he played. This is despite the courage he displayed in taking a stand against corruption in the NYPD.
Perhaps it was because it was because the other police officers (exempting the few who supported him) all had the same attitude and so seemed to be very similar to each other. On the other hand it was a interesting real life story and Pacino put in a very good, passionate performance as Serpico.
I did like the scene where he came into the police station dressed undercover as a rabbi!
