Review of Serpico (1973) by Ross M — 18 Oct 2008
Saw for the first time last night - underwhelmed my main reaction. Pacino is fantastic but that turns out to be part of the problem as the rest of the story and cast is several levels below him. Feels more like a TV movie that managed to bag Pacino.
I understand how relevant it was on release (Watergate etc.) but I thought the corrupt cops were the least corrupt corrupt cops I've ever seen in a film. Less dirty, more fairly smudged.
