Review of Serpico (1973) by Douglas L — 13 Nov 2011
Serpico is a great story of crime and police corruption. Al Pacino gives one of his greatest performances ever as the good cop mixed up with the wrong people trying to do good. The depth he gives to the character helps bring him onto a level that other people can relate to which is really cool.
His performance highlights include his rages of anger, his quiet emotional conflict and his dedication to the NYPD. The film was expertly filmed showing the slum, and bad aspects of being a cop in the big city, very much like French Connection did at times.
Great film, Pacino once again delivers and for some reason was again snubbed by the Academy for an Oscar.
