As a standalone Science Fiction film this doesn't quite work, it's to reliant upon you being familiar with the established Universe and conventions from the Firefly TV series to work, for a audience fresh to the characters.

It also leaves to many questions unanswered to be truly satisfying for anyone other than diehard fans who have read all the additional materials.

However at times it is massively entertaining and the visuals are stunning with good performances from the principal cast with a great turn from Chiwetel Ejiofor as 'The Operative' in pursuit of the Firefly's crew.

So not totally satisfying but a fun romp that should return fans to the show and give them an idea of the unseen potential in the series and concept.
