Review of Séraphine (2008) by Ray P — 22 Aug 2010
Why does it seem like all creative genius must also bring about uncontrolable insanit and depression? Thus is this well-acted but extremely depressing film about the French post-modernist painter, Seraphine de Senlis, who starts out as a common housekeeper with a knack for creating beautiful paintings.
Regretably, she is institutionalized well before ever seeing her work become a success.
