Review of Seraphim Falls (2007) by David G — 31 Dec 2007
An excellent chase movie with a deep emotional core and gorgeous scenery. I loved how you are thrown right into the story with no background or set-up. Brosnan is on the run, Neeson and his posse are chasing him - that's all we know, that's all we need to know.
Back-story is tastefully drip-fed here and there through dialogue and one lengthy flashback which add weight to the reasons for the hunt and the truth behind Neeson's rage. The two leads deliver great performances and play off each other well.
A common complaint seems to be the surreal and improbable ending, and while it's true that it detracts from the film as a whole and borders on deus ex machina territory, it succeeds in delivering the final message.
