Review of September Dawn (2007) by Edward B — 29 Mar 2008
September Dawn is a great movie. Everyone should see it. I don't know why it seems to be panned by the critics - don't let them trick you - if you like Historical Drama's - this is a must see. It may even get you into visiting all the related websites, learning more about the Mormons and history in general. Jon Voight lends his name and his acting to this, and while he doesn't do too much more than look sinister most of the time - it's his personality that sets the tone for the movie..
I was afraid this was going to dribble down to a modern day Romeo and Juliet from reading the reviews - but indeed it does not and the plot is fathomable for filling in the blanks. Roger Ebert really lets down with his rambling review - I usually respect him, but dont' take your cue from him for this movie. He spends most of the time preaching in his review, and comes off sounding like some super defensive radical Mormon, which I don't think he is. .
Gone with the Wind it's not - but you will have a different view of a lot things after seeing this movie! See the movie the Mormons don't want you to see!!.
