Review of Separate Lies (2005) by Gabriel H — 19 Jan 2007
I find it so strange for me to not like this film, I love Tom Wilkinson and Emily Watson, I loved Tom in IN the Bedroom, and Emily was brilliant in Breaking the waves.
I felt so ripped off, after seeing the poster and trailer, I was expecting to see some drama/Thriller with twists, or at least a climax. Its starts off good, there are elements of surprise, which sorta put the title to good use, but by the time it hits the 40 minute mark, the film just turns into a soap-opera, about who's gonna get the woman, the older husband or the much yunder 'other man'. It was ridiculous, I expected so much more, considering it was written and directed by the man who wrote Gosford Park.
