When the Dashwood sisters, unfairly deprived of their family inheritance, are compelled to move to Barton Cottage, leaving their home.

in Norland, life takes a new turn for each of them. A new home awaits them,.

Thus bringing a new society to fit into , and unexpected situations to tackle.

Elinor, the eldest of the three, though has not seen the world enough, is an idol of maturity, who conceals all her troubles and emotions including her heartache on having left behind Edward Ferrars, the only man in her life to be loved. Marianne, the younger Dashwood.

Girl, shows complete contradiction in character with her sister. She is young, exuberant, outspoken and radiates charm and beauty which are enough to draw the attention of many a men. Elinor's secrets and desires remain a mystery to the world outside that sees the kind face, always smiling, of the girl who considers her griefs to be private so much.

So that one is bound to get frustrated by the sophistication of the character. On the other hand, Marianne, opinionated about most of the things around her, lacks stability in her emotions which make her vulnerable enough.

To be deceived by her love Willoughby.

The cream of the plot is the motive of.

Bringing out the stark contrast between.

The nature of two young women of.

Same blood .The story essentially aims at showing the uphills and downfalls in the life of the two women with completely different personalities, how they stand up against them and how everything falls.

Right in place for them at the end, after.

Having seen enough of life's light and.

Darkness.

Sense and Sensibility, a screen presentation of yet another Jane Austen work, does little to impress the modern audience.Lost is time when people cherished watching the characters written about in classic novels.

Come alive on screen. This movie, about.

Relationships and life, does little to inculcate or revive that love in movie-goers. Kate Winslet as the delicate and pretty Marianne showing extremes of all emotions-anger, sorrow or joy, and Hugh Grant as the humble,.

Slightly timid and shy Edward Ferrars are.

Just perfect on screen. Emma Thompson.

is good but could have been better given to the complications in.

The character of Elinor. For once Thompson could have done away with the eccentric touch that is imparted by the actress to all her roles.(My favorite among all the actors happens to be Alan Rickman who plays with obvious ease the role of Colonel Brandon, who falls for the bright, young Marriane.)What Sense and Sensibility lacks is the.

Master touch and popularity that comes.

Inherently to Pride And Prejudice, probably the most famous Austen novel.
