Review of Sense and Sensibility (1995) by Richard H — 21 Aug 2009
Where Pride and Prejudice deals with people whose love hangs in front of their noses but are just too damned proud to snatch it (and also about money this, money that...), Sense and Sensibility deals with people whose loyalty to their duties threatens their love to ruin.
Even the most despicable character in the film has our heart, there is tragedy and the fleeting of what can and can never be. Emma Thomspon's adaptation and Ang Lee's direction is undoubtedly what sets this apart from all other Austen films.
