Review of Senna (2010) by Daisy M — 22 Oct 2011
Seventeen years after the death of one of the greatest Formula 1 racing drivers Ayrton Senna, this documentary has been released for showing his 10 year career in the sport. Directed by Asif Kapadia, he showed the audience the potential of the Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, he did not use any CGI or reconstructions, but the whole material was archived and well put together so you could see this young Brazillian boy, who from go-karting went to become 3 times world champion in F1.
Some viewer might know Ayrton Senna in passing, but this was a brilliant and moving documentary of a rising star caught up in the middle of politics, rivalries and stardom, when all he wanted was to race and win by any means.
and not for the millions, but his love for his country and for the sport which was so close to his heart. My heart was beating faster in the final sequences of the movie when the onboard camera was showing the speed with which Senna was tackling the road in his final minutes.
