Review of Senna (2010) by Ilsa W — 04 Apr 2012
Wow what a brilliant documentary. I have always had a very on and off interest in motor racing and tho I do remember Senna & Prost racing I worried I might find this documentary a little boring but boy was I wrong, it had me riveted from the beginning.
What a completely fascinating and complex man Senna was. I never knew quite what an inspiration he was for the Brazilian people and quite how intense the rivalry was between him and Prost. I had grown di inspired by Ayrton as a person that by the time the inevitable happened I was in floods of tears.
A very sad end to a true global icon. That race should have been stopped after the sad death of Roland Ratzenberger. It was obvious Senna wasn't in the right mindset to drive, they should never have let him, he could still be with us today.
A very inspiring, fascinating and ultimately emotional film.
