Review of Self/less (2015) by Afm185 — 21 Jun 2020
Phenomenal. I love that aspect of it. It’s such a good springboard for ideas, and this movie pulls a lot of it off. It’s not perfect, but it’s mostly well done. The characters aren’t great and that’s maybe the only thing I think they really should’ve emphasized.
Instead they all felt just a bit generic, albeit likable. The dialogue is very good for the most part though. Nothing feels too expositional and characters’ reactions feel genuine. There’s some action in here and it’s nothing special.
The acting is great and even the kid is pretty darn good. I can’t help but feel like it could’ve been better, because again that concept is really something special, and the ideas they put in place are really interesting, but there’s a lot of room for improvement here.
