Steve Carell has an exceptional talent of playing apathetic characters, I commend him on it. I've never really liked Keira Knightley in any of her roles (mainly because i'm not into costume dramas etc) but here I found her portrayal of Penny very likable.
It isn't very funny at all so i'd go into this purely as a romance but I feel that just because the setting of the end of the world is so unique for this type of genre, it deserves a view. I also LOVE the dog.
I think the producers could have EASILY done this with teens so I thank them forever for NOT doing that.
