Review of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) by Desiree G — 28 Jan 2013
This movie haunted me for days afterward. You can always just feel that clock ticking. Knightley's and the rest of cast's performances are excellent. Carell's not so much... he's about as wooden as you can get.
Some of that is intentional, I'm sure, but it was still somewhat off-putting to me. Reminds a bit of Lars von Trier's last offering, turning the armageddon pic on its head and making it drama, tragedy, and comedy all in one, as well as impressing the inescapability onto the audience.
Its commentary on what would happen to social mores was quite good as well.
