Review of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) by Serge L — 15 May 2015
Bizarre film. Funny film but not too funny haha! It's another end of the world film where everything is possible. Like a 28 year old girl that likes 60's vinyl meet the 80-something neighbour that looks like a 50 year old, and wants him.
Nothing sexual, only sort of counterintuitive romantic things. This interspersed by strange behavior going from killing/suicide to police giving a ride. The large majority of people in denial of the end of the world.
I've seen at least three end of the world film similar and low budget, two of them were better. This one does not render the desperation or the sadness. The end feels like an intellectual possibility that few can understand.
This could be comical if we were showed the meteorite or something making it obvious. But no. Even an english-canadian film of the same theme was better. Last Night (1998) is actually top fresh tomato and has a lot more guts.
