Review of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) by Jens S — 10 Oct 2018

The beginning is actually quite excellent. With knowledge of the impending end of the world spreading it's pretty quirky and full of black humor to see how people deal with it, despair or celebrate the last days.

With increasing length of the following road trip bringing two characters together, things move more and more in somewhat normal rom com terrain, despite of the unusual premise. That slows down the film at times.

What's worst is that it ends exactly like you'd expect it to and there is no punchline, no surprise. That's disappointing after a really good first half with the who is who of US comedy.
