(2012) Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World.

DRAMA/ COMEDY.

It's basically using the persona of the Steve Carell character in 'the end of the world' movie since his character is similar to "Crazy Stupid Love" and the character he played in "The Office" where he's surrounded by eccentric somewhat oddball characters or people who are at their limits. Written and directed by Lorene Scafaria which the introduction has Dodge(Steve Carell) hearing on the car radio that an unstoppable dangerous comet is going to hit the earth in about a week or two. He's an insurance agent who's trying to continue his daily life, except that his wife has left him, and does not have anything in common with anyone else. But as a result of coinciding with his neighbor Penny played by Keira Knightly, they go on a road trip for the purpose of flying her away to spend her remaining days with her parents, and for him to search for his old soul mate he had met in high school so that when the earth does get blown up they wouldn't have to die alone. Much of the film wasn't involving until the Keira Knightly character and Steve Carell character are together. There's some unlikely situations that would've been labeled as too far fetched especially during the time when they were pulled over by a police officer, but the reason for that was that it had to be a two hour film and may have ran out of ideas. I really liked some of the genuine moments between Carell and Knightly and wished their were more of that instead of seeing the other wacky characters. Martin Sheen also stars as Frank.
