Review of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) by Gavin S — 12 Mar 2013
I really enjoyed this film, which was equal parts dark comedy, regular comedy, drama, and absurdist observations on life. Carell and Knightley are actually a much more believable pairing than I'd have ever thought.
Throw in lots of talented actors with tiny bits (Rob Corddry, Connie Britton, Melanie Lynskey, Adam Brody, TJ Miller, William Petersen, Derek Luke, Patton Oswalt, and the fantastic Martin Sheen) and you get a movie that feels somewhat authentic about the various types of reactions people would have to the inevitable end of days.
I laughed, smiled, enjoyed the music, and actually felt like this might be the best thing that happened to some of these people. Only makes you wonder what the world would be like with that kind of honesty.
Enjoyable film, which has rewatchability, not something that you usually associate with most romcoms these days.
