Review of Secrets & Lies (1996) by Frances B — 09 Jul 2007
Makes me remember how much I love british film for its kitchen sink realism & the fact that it takes many cues from theatre (overarching themes, focus on acting, motifs etc). I love the script and I love the theme of truth in human relationships (and how that ties in with maurice's job vs hortence's etc).
a film you can really think about and I love that. i'm definitely checking out more films by mike leigh.
