Review of Secretary (2002) by Paul K — 02 Sep 2010
James Spader plays another emotionally wounded character with sexual issues, like the one he played in sex. lies, and videotape. He frees a young woman he has hired to do menial secretarial work from her self-destructive coping behaviors and self-imposed isolation.
In fact, when he releases her inner sado-masochist, she begins to outdo him in creativity, dedication, and desire, and he can't handle the intimacy of a full-time relationship. Different, to be sure, intriguing and well-played.
