Review of Secretariat (2010) by Jesse C — 08 Aug 2011
Horse racing movies are all pretty predictable. I could figure this out pretty much from the beginning, but that wasn't exactly the point of the film.
The point of the film is about going against the normal and taking a chance. The way the film pulls this off is Diane Lane plays a woman who inherits her fathers horse ranch and becomes one of the first women owners. The predominately male owner crew doesn't like her, but she proves them wrong with a wonderful horse.
The movie is a feel good kind of film, but it definitely misses a bit. I felt a lot of character build up suddenly happens out of nowhere and could have used more time for development. The movie is a rental at best!
