Review of Secret in Their Eyes (2015) by Ntc R — 07 Apr 2016

I loved the original, but this one just didn't work for me. The original film won the Foreign Language Oscar in 2010 and got a rare 5 stars from me, so this one had a lot to live up to. Unfortunately, for this type of story, the Hollywood gloss and A-list cast doesn't work.

It just felt like an awards grab to me and I just couldn't accept them as their characters. The other thing that ruined it for me is that the writer/director added a Terrorism(9/11) element that wasn't needed and I found distracting.

Tough to say what I would've thought of this film if I'd seen it before the original, I may have been slightly easier on it I suppose. In any case, skip it and watch the original!
