John Frankenheimer never directed a comedy. This film completes a paranoia trilogy that he directed in the 1960s starting with THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE and continuing with SEVEN DAYS IN MAY. The best performance of Rock Hudson's career, he would soon be doing lightweight work on television.
