Review of Second Act (2018) by Barbara C — 21 Dec 2018
'Second Act' appeals to a pretty specific demographic in middle-aged, working class Hispanic women, but as harmless, pretty okay entertainment, there isn't a single cynical bone in the film.
It starts somewhat contrived, but quickly develops into the best parts of the film, turning the traditional tropes of the romcom on their head in the film's central relationship. Director Peter Segal-of many 2000's comedy movie fame-throws back to the sweet and funny style of yester decade with inconsequential humor and quirky characters out the wazoo.
