Review of Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure (2007) by Gabrielle J — 04 Nov 2007
Good stuff! I liked the back & forth focus btw paleontologists on land and following the underwater sea monsters. Had we been in the sea more, I might have felt a blue overload. We're directed to care about Dolly (the starlet) and her relatives, and this works fine as it never crosses over into silly emotion.
Found all the dolichorynchops anims great, also the twirling schools of fish, and more, yet a couple other creatures were a little stiff in their swim movements (the thicker more muscly fish). Looking down at swimming dollies from above the water surface is one of my fave shots, and so is the night scene with the mini lit-up cone shaped ammonites.
The sped up sequence of geological ages gone by is also nicely done.
