Review of Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure (2007) by Cam R — 14 Feb 2008
*How long have movies like this been around? I went to IMAX in Vancouver, expecting the 'bigger screen than usual' treatment I remember from my junior high field trips (see: Egypt!). I was suprised when the pimply usher gave me a pair of glasses to wear for the show.
Sidenote: He must always smell like popcorn. Anyways, what a difference this now dubbed 'super magic glasses of awesome' make. I was trying to dodge prehistoric alligator-type creatures right out of my seat.
I think I pulled a hamstring. The story was okay, you could tell they were trying to be educational and cater to the junior high field trip curriculum. I guess this 'learning' thing has it's upsides too.
The plot follow a little dolphin thing as it grew up and had it's brother and mother eaten (I think they used the same script from Bambi and Land Before Time). Only 45 minutes long, but my knuckles were white by the end and I probably would've puked from motion sickness were it any longer.
Also, don't try playing around with the super magic glasses of awesome before the movie. You can't watch the movie without them and apparently you only get one pair each (fuck you, Devon!).
