Review of Se7en (1995) by Helen M — 04 May 2013
I have watched this film a number of times over the years, the first time on its release at the cinema and although it seems to have become a blue print for many films that followed, the psychology of this film always upsets me. The nature of the murders, the psyche of the killer, the way it always seemed so dark and it was always raining, just add to the oppressive feel of the film.
Plus the buzz surrounding Brad Pitt, who I feel gets better with age.
However the older I get the more I enjoy it, it certainly was the film of its time and one that is still referred a lot.
I still find it a mind pickle, which at one point I found quite upsetting, however all these years later, I guess that's just the mark of a good film.
