Review of Se7en (1995) by Spangle — 24 Jul 2014
This one is fantastic. I had high hopes and figured there was no way it could live up to my hype, but boy did it ever. Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman are great, Kevin Spacey is phenomenal, and really, the whole cast does a good job.
On Spacey, his role here is perfectly done and entirely chilling. He really embodies his character. In addition, David Fincher's direction is great as always and he really does a fantastic job crafting a chilling, thrilling, twisty, and dark film.
From the very beginning, this one has you on the edge of your seat and it only drives you closer and closer to the edge throughout the film. This one never really drags and instead has you entirely engrossed as the case progresses.
The script is also strong and builds very well to the ultimate pay-off. Now, this one is certainly not perfect, but what film is? This one is very well made, very well acted, entertaining, and extremely thrilling.
From every angle, this film delivers and is worthy of the hype and reputation is has in the aftermath of its release.
