It didn't really measure up to the original. I think it was because they were focusing too much on the Screamers as the story, and there wasn't really like anything else going on. Like they were trying to push it to be more of horror movie instead of a SciFi movie.

The environments didn't really have the same Screamers-lurking feel to them, I mean I get that power is supposed to be an issue and stuff, but there were still some shots of rats running around and I don't remember anything about the mines being depleted so there is like unlimited power right there!

The other thing that threw me for a loop was how it seemed like it took them no time at all to traverse the planet. I mean one minute they are at the ship, the next they are (what I assumed to be) miles away, then they are back at the ship again. There was no real feeling of distance, not a lot of shots of them traversing this planet, even though it took place over several days.

You do get to see a shot of the Screamers' factory, which was probably the most interesting part. I was hoping for a little more in depth info on it, but the glimpse you get was pretty cool.

I thought it was cool that Lance Henriksen was in it, which was something else I wasn't positive about. Cause I thought that in the original movie the people that created the Screamers were never actually on the planet. The colonist just received the plans from Earth, built the factory, and then it was automated. So I don't know how his character got there or why he was attributed as the "father" of the Screamers.

To some things up see the original movie, and don't worry so much about this one. If anything don't watch this if you haven't seen the original, or else it will just screw up the original for you.

All-in-all this movie didn't really add anything new, the final Screamer version in this one was not much of an advancement. It was pretty much exactly like the final version in the original one, except for it's ability to cross-species replicate which was mildly interesting. The whole saving on resources and meshing with living organisms was cool, and saves on factory costs but just wasn't much of a point to make a whole movie around.

Heck, it would have been cooler to just see the Screamers make a space ship and head to Earth. Which seems like what they should have done.
