Review of Scream 4 (2011) by Russell P — 24 Feb 2013
Scream 4 ups the blood and gore, and has strong leads from Neve Campbell and David as well as having interesting remake themes, but is utterly as poor as the second film the series which has jumped the shark a long time ago.
The Scream series has gone on for way too long and has clearly ran out of ideas. Mean, by the end of the intro I found myself so repulsed by the repetitiveness that I have no more f*cks to give anymore.
The plot is way to overused, the script is very weak and the reason justifying antagonists murders is so ridiculous that it gives a bad name to the whole film.
Also, Courtney Cox fails to perform for the first time, because you can no longer tell if she is acting underneath that awful plastic surgery, but her character just gets phased out anyway.
Even though Scream 4 did feature good performances by Scream Newcomers Hayden Paynattiere, Emma Roberts and Allison Brie, Scream 4 was so terrible that I'm beginning to hope that Sidney Prescott will die so the series will finally stop.
