Review of Scream 3 (2000) by Amanda B — 24 Apr 2011
The original trilogy ends a little underwhelmingly due to a muddled script that tries to comment on Hollywood but doesn't say anything new or interesting. It also suffers from a glut of cameos that are more in-jokes than actually adding anything to the story.
The reveal at the end is a bit of a disappointment and tries to wrap up what is already a wrapped up story. The fact that all the characters make a point of saying 'all bets are off' in a trilogy this plays it all very safe and there are no real surprises.
Plus points for the killer having a voice manipulator that can sound like other characters but this isn't exploited anywhere near enough. Still a fun trilogy but you're not really missing anything if you just stick with the first two.
