Out of the few good horror films, like maybe 15% of all ever made, Scream takes an interesting page out of the slasher genre, adds diversity and brings it into the modern era for a timeless film series that still works in the modern times. Two films in, the Scream series is just awesome. This was quite a bit better than the first film. Important to note is an industry first, two killers. Both set up in a way that you would never guess them. Even the plot was perfect. Then let's analyze the scenario. One you don't see for an hour, appears to be a minor character and disappears. The other is more prevalent and is not a teenager like the other two killers but is very much related to the killer of the first film.

Scream 2 is a work of art from, imho the master of horror, Wes Craven. I've seen at least half of his movies and he just knows how to spin all his series in a different way. From his 2nd film and his 1st horror film, co-produced with Friday the 13th's own Sean S. Cunningham, both of whom created, the original Last House on the Left. Till now, all great films and film series, each in their own way, and in all their cheesy fashion, each plays to their time or decade. Even when Freddy 6 came out, it worked it's way into the '90s, with still that '80s feel that you still would naturally receive from the early '90s with even Freddy 7 feeling like a modern day film in its own right.

Scream 2 is just one of those films that you have to see if you're a film buff, horror buff, whatever you are. It's just awesome nostalgia.
