Review of Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015) by Ken S — 19 Jan 2016
Not much you haven't seen before in much better movies here. I've been burnt out on newer zombie movies for so long, I'm not sure what made me give this one a go...maybe it was because I was a former Scout, or maybe I just heard something good about it.
But it isn't really all that good. It was alright, had some moments that were funny, but it didn't do anything "Shaun of the Dead" didn't already do better. Wright and Pegg pretty much made the end all be all of zombie comedies.
If you are going to try and make one of your own, with the twist being that it is Scouts who are doing the Zombie thrashing? Make sure your zombie kills have more to do with Scouting stuff. You can't have one scene where a kid whittles a spear and one scene using a flint to start a fire.
..you need most kills to be some kind of Scouting skill utilized! That's the fun idea here, and they really didn't do enough with that...which is a shame, because I might've found it more entertaining if they had.
