This is a fun guilty pleasure movie that may have a lot of stereotypical fighting zombie plot points but does enough differently to enjoy. Tye Sheridan really wins you over in this and really anything he does as he proved with his amazing performance in last year's Joe.

He is the definition of charming. If you go into this excepting a smart comedy, you'll agree with the majority of critics that it isn't but if you go in with an open mind of just having a good time, you'll enjoy it like I did.

There were some moments of dialogue that were just groan worthy but their is enough ridiculous humor to upstage the crappy lines. I also enjoyed for the other scouts Joey Morgan and Logan Miller and hope to see them do more work like Tye is getting.

I also enjoyed the women in this Halston Sage and Sarah Dumont even if she was overtly sexualized but she worked as a bar tender at a strip club so it didn't bother me too much but it might bother others.

On that note, this is definitely not a movie for younger audiences even if it might appear that way through the trailer/poster. It kind of has that same Kingsman vibe where it might be mistaken for a PG-13 young adult movie but it is a hard R with one of the most ridiculous scenes I've seen on year, but in a weirdly good way.

I'll say it was quite unique how they decided to use the Graphic Nudity section on their ratings description. Cloris Leachman makes a great small appearance as well as does Blake Anderson from Workaholics.

He serves as the Drew Barrymore of the movie which you can take that as you will in terms of how he fits into the story. The make up was great as were the visual effects and the action scenes were nicely choreographed.

This movie reminded me a lot like Goosebumps where it got receptive in places with this whole idea of everywhere you turn you are going to meet a new monster but it was done a tad better here. It is corny in some places especially the final line of dialogue of the movie but I think that's what it is intended on being.

I mean just read the title of the movie out loud. I can understand why someone wouldn't enjoy this movie but I had a good time with it especially as a former scout myself so see it if you are ok with the sexual teenage boy humor and people killing zombies.
