Review of Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015) by Junelkean — 04 Jul 2017
What could possibly go wrong when three scouts save the entire town when a zombie outbreak has occurred? Well, this could be as good as Zombieland or as great as Shaun of the Dead, unless it's directed by the same guy who did Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.
Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse has some quite funny and decent zombie gags, but the juvenile humor consists of selfie and sex jokes cannot save the movie from its very simple yet formulaic storyline. The prosthetics of the zombies feel often real and the stunts are likely fine.
The cast features Sheridan as the lead actor with Morgan and Miller. It also stars Sarah Dumont as the bad-ass cocktail waitress and David Koechner as the scout leader who loves Dolly Parton. The movie has pacing problems whereas it takes too long to let the zombies shine.
VERDICT: The scouts may have saved the day from zombies, but not the movie from its cheesy moments.
