Review of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) by Sam S — 02 Jul 2013
If you are familiar with his works this has a good feel about it and you can clearly tell it's an Edgar Wright production in the best way.
It has good pace and cutting like his Cornetto Trilogy movies.
The soundtrack is quite nice in-film though the grainy, gritty guitars are kind of annoying on their own on a soundtrack.. no thanks. Though the track 'Ramona' is a nice, plot-relevant addition.
Casting... well I'm unfamiliar with the actors but that's often a good thing so you aren't distracted. I think they did very well with what they were given, and the story is a joy to watch unfold.
It also adds some odd comic and video-game references and animations... bizarre but makes the film more fun in a surrealist way.
If you want a fun film with a fairly original flare to it watch this.
Fighting plots are quite common sadly but it's quite a marvel when you have 7 villains to face. There's also a randomly hilarious 'vegan' reference I shan't spoil.
Good old film!
