Review of Schindler's List (1993) by Matthew T — 18 Feb 2015
Too most and I agree this movie is one of Steven Spielberg's best, and my favorite historical film followed by General Patton. to those how don't this film it is a movie that takes you back to the Jewish Holocaust in world war 2 in a very humanized fashion. Reviewing this is like teaching a history college class its very adult strong theme, and human moral, and a beautiful story.
lets start this up with the setting, the setting is dark and cruel showing how harsh of a it was allowing death to be constant. The main thing to me is how complex this world is meaning there is always a problem the characters are face with and its not just external but internal. like the fact that Schindler is actually questioning the fact of saving the Jews even though the site of the madness sickens him, why because Schindler is just a business man and that's all he wants to be not the white knight who comes in and saves the innocent, the Nazi Commandant Amon Goeth (yes he was a real person) has the same issue except its more of should he be more kinder to the Jews rather then kill them inhumanly.
thats where we get down to it the characters. these characters are one of the most accurate and none stereotypical characters in a documentary drama film. mainly just how human they are, yeah in a time period that is harsh there is human. Why do you think Schindler was questioning on saving the because he's human not superman even Amon also went through the same process but for some reason Couldn't change but that didn't mean he was all bad heck he even helped out schindler and even saved his butt both in movie and real life.
The funny thing about this is that it was supposed be made in the early 1980, but Steven thought wasn't right for it so it went through seven directors then he did it, and the reason why he turned it down the first time was because he thought he didn't have mind set for it and we now know why that's a big deal. the Holocaust has very Humanistic point of views discussing race and that's what this film heads to. its not about the cruelty of life but about what it means to be human, what was in this movie was very accurate Schindler only thought the Jews as profit but after getting to know them and working with them plus he was against the violence used his company to saved them, and Amon actually kind of help out with that and even gotten Schindler out of jail twice for suspicion of that though Amon was executed for actually killing Jews but he did do some good and prevented Schindler from getting in trouble. which is why Schindler's list is my favorite movie.
