Review of Schindler's List (1993) by Jasmine B — 04 Dec 2018
Films like this as well as 'The Lives Of Others' perfectly convey the human condition. Ben Kingsley gives a stunning performance; every one of his lines delivered with precision and feeling. They aren't playing characters, they are living as the people they portray.
The only scenes I took issue with was one of the final scenes in which Liam Neason (Oskar Schindler) breaks down. I felt he was forcing himself to feel the emotions rather than letting it naturally build.
Not only that, the lines were rather clunky. It was fortunate Spielberg included the final scene with the real Schindler Jews, otherwise I don't feel it would've have quite as hard of an impact.
There was also another scene in which women are discussing rumor of the burning and gassing of people. It didn't quite feel organic as it could have been. I would only have assumed they had relatives of Schindler Jews speak the lines but I'm not sure.
All in all, Schindler's List is an incredably important film that not just history buffs should watch but regular people as well; especially teens. It's important to fully understand the gravity of the atrocities was the Holocaust.
It's emotion, thought provoking, and beautifully orchastrated.
