Review of Scent of a Woman (1992) by Jonny P — 27 Jun 2009
Al Pacino steals the show with his performance as a frustrated, aggressive, blind war vet. Outside of Pacino, this movie does not offer much. I found Chris O'Donnell to be pretty annoying, and I dislike that the movie has two nearly unrelated plots.
If you got rid of the Prep. School plot and just had O'Donnell taking care of Pacino and growing into a man through it, it would be great. The prep. school plot paled in comparison to the NYC plot, and the only thing gained by having the prep.
school is that it gives a reason for Pacino's powerful monologue toward the end. You must see this movie for Al Pacino. Simply put, it is one of the most powerful roles and transformations ever portrayed on the screen.
