Review of Scent of a Woman (1992) by Jeff B — 23 Aug 2010
Al Pacino's character alternates between interesting/intense and annoying. I have no idea what the hell he was trying to go for; it's baffling really. The rest of the movie is a coming-of-age tale about a young man realizing that he's going to have to have the courage to stand for his convictions--even if they're incredibly silly and pointless.
The scene that sticks out the most in this film is when Pacino's character goes to his brother's house to eat Thanksgiving dinner one last time and he ends up having it out with his nephew (masterfully portrayed by Bradley Whitford.
