Review of Scent of a Woman (1992) by Matt P — 19 Sep 2010
Man, Pacino nailed it with this one. Normally his performances come off as a tad corny, or over-the top. But he was just given the perfect roll. Pacino gives us an emotional performance that really made me understand the circumstances.
At times he draws us in, inch by inch, and the yells in our faces catching us off-guard. But it is merely the character's actions that speak louder then his words. As a lost, depressed blind man he seeks sympathy and compassion.
Even if he doesn't show it. Chris O'Donnell supports him well and gives him that friendship he deserves. It was all played into account very nicely, a nice score from Thomas Newman put on the finishing touches.
And I enjoyed this movie as much as the next Pacino or Martin Brest film.
