Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is not a bad film by any means, but I truly believe it could have been a lot better. The movie itself caught me off guard with its beautiful cinematography, but annoyed me with its use of false jumps scares.
I really wanted to find this movie scary, but there were incredibly few moments where any scare caught me off guard and that’s not something I want with horror films of any kind. This results in the movie being less memorable than it could have been.
I’d still recommend Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, especially if you grew up with the original stories.
