Review of Scarface (1983) by Ryan S — 14 Apr 2018
What makes "Scarface" such a compelling experience is Al Pacino's fantastic performance. His portrayal of Tony Montana is fascinating because of its one of those rare moments in cinema where you kind of root for a fundamentally evil character.
Pacino's performance is over the top but in the best way possible. It's both fun and fascinating to watch him. The film is fairly long, so at times it does start to drag, but in the final act, the pacing is rock solid.
The movie really feels like a journey and it's a well-done rise and fall story fueled by an excellent lead performance.
