Review of Scarecrows (1988) by Starla M — 18 Oct 2008
This movie had such potential. The scarecrow imagery at the beginning was awesome. The scarecrow imagery in the middle was awesome. The scarecrow imagery at the end was awesome. The rest was just not good.
The bad started out with one of the main characters talking to himself...in his head. It didn't come off too well. Just kind of stupid. And then there wasn't much of a plot...not that plot is ever too important in a horror film.
But this one kept hinting at a plot...so it kind of wasn't fair that it didn't have one. But dang it sure had potential. I'd like to remake this movie. It's just not fair that this didn't turn out to be one of the best horror movies of all time.
Here's a bonus. On the video tape (this movie came out in the 80s) the tagline said "Trespassers will be violated." The newer version on cd has the tagline "They only want a brain..
.yours". This movie had nothing to do with brains...which confused me for about the first 30 minutes... I was thinking "why aren't they taking the brains like it said on the dvd case?" Then I realized it was a play on the Wizard of Oz.
That's how cheesy it was. (And yeah I guess I was a little slow.).
