Review of Scanners (1981) by Dustin A — 27 Apr 2008
BADASS.
One of my new favourite movies. A crash course in the fact you can make a totally cool movie on a low budget.
I'm also incredibly intrigued by the lead actor's constant blank stare and monotone delivery. Some people might just mistake this a bad acting but's it's his character. He's supposed to be a man with no memories or emotion. ( a fellow Scanner calls him "barely human") The rest of the cast are all pro's including Michael Ironside and the guy from the 60's tv show The Prisoner.
Totally classy and grotesque. I absolutly love the powerful yet empathetic score by Oscar,Goldon Globe and Grammy winning composer Howard Shore.
