Review of Scanners (1981) by Steve G — 18 Apr 2009
Some of the special effects are rather dated but others are pretty impressive for 1981 and I enjoyed this cult classic which I just finally got around to watching. Most of the acting in the film was pretty good with the exception of, strangely, Stephen Lack as the main character.
I guess he was cast because he was strange looking and gave off a creepy vibe which fit his character well but his acting was so wooden and emotionless that I was wondering if they were going to reveal at the end that he was a robot or something.
Anyway, it's a cool story line if you like sci fi/horror. I just found out they are remaking the movie this year. Should be interesting to see what they can do with modern special effects.
