The best sci-fi is that sci-fi which burrows it's way into your head, this is why scanners is among the best science fiction you can get. fans of altered states, other forms of consciousness and evolution beyond physical capacity will be at home in the cronenberg's twisted future-phobic nightmare, which like your favorite sci-fi feels best with those pre-dream silences (remember flickering blue) behind view damaged magnetic imperfections and the sublime fuzz of dusty VHS.
