Review of Saw (2004) by Parker N — 18 Jun 2013
I've always thought that the saw franchise should have just stopped after one film. James Wan ended the film with the way that it should have been ended, with the cliffhanger that distressed us. The whole point of the film is to make you feel uncomfortable and how much more comfortable would you feel if you didn't know what happened after that.
If they had stopped after just this film, people would still be talking about how they wish they knew what happened to jigsaw and all of his contestants in his game. After seeing the second film I could already tell that James Wan did not direct it .
I did not feel distressed after watching it, I felt almost relieved which is the feeling that I did not want to have at all after watching a gruesome movie like that. This film, if it had just ended it would be considered to be one of the greatest horror flicks of all time.
But what's the reputation that came after its sequels people believe that the first one was just as bad when really it wasn't.
